Epoxidized natural rubber is a chemically modified natural rubber by epoxidation and it is claimed to exhibit improved oil resistance, gas impermeability and good wet grip comparable to synthetic rubber. However, most works on epoxidized natural rubber are based on the rubber form of this material. There are relatively very few studies on epoxidized natural rubber in latex form, i.e. epoxidized natural rubber latex. In view of the above, it is advantageous to provide a modified epoxidized natural rubber latex obtained by way of irradiation in order to improve the characteristics of the rubber products produced therefrom. The present invention provides a modified epoxidized natural rubber latex in order to improve the characteristics of the rubber latex and a method of producing the modified epoxidized natural rubber latex. The modified epoxidized natural rubber latex is obtained by irradiating a natural rubber raw material consisting of epoxidized natural rubber latex, which causes the formation of crosslinks in the material. Acrylate monomer is added to the epoxidized natural rubber latex prior to irradiation in order to reduce the required radiation dose for the modification. The ionizing radiation may be for example, gamma or electron beam irradiation.  The modified epoxidized natural rubber latex can be used in the rubber gloves industry. Particularly, the modified epoxidized natural rubber latex of the present invention can be coated onto natural rubber gloves to improve its grip and resistance to oil and chemical.
